The importance of having no plans

As wedding photographers, we’ve realised the importance of not having boxes to tick when it comes to photography. When you’re constantly referring to a shot list, you lose concentration on what’s around you - you step out of the moment.

We’ve tried to apply this to our fine-art and landscape photography. When we set out to take photographs for Simple Tapestry Prints, we do so without a real agenda. We try to let places reveal themselves to us.

It’s a liberating way to work. We’re never disappointed when we travel somewhere renowned for it’s beauty and don’t get a great shot of it. More often than not we’ll have found something else along the journey, something that we hadn’t foreseen - some magical light, some spectacular weather, some candid moment. Something that makes us never want to leave that moment. The personality of a place.
